Jairo Moreno is Associate Professor at the University of Pennsylvania (Music Dept.). His work addresses the production of knowledge in music and aurality, with a focus on European and Latin American modernity. He coedits the series Critical Conjunctures in Music and Sound (Oxford University Press), and coedited Econophonia: Music, Value, and The making, sounding, and hearing of "Latin music" brings into being the complex array of concepts that constitute "Latin Americanism"—its fissures and paradoxes, but also its universal aspirations.
