The land was originally part of a grant made to William Balmain in 1800. It is a great recreational facility that has a sporting ground and a popular playground that is highly used by the community. At its centre is a grassed playing field that is very busy each weekend with organised sports: cricket in summer and football in winter (plus practice on many evenings).
