The Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire is a large automobile which was produced by the British company, Armstrong Siddeley Motors Limited, A Star Sapphire saloon with automatic transmission was tested by the British magazine The Motor in 1959. It had a top speed of 99.6 mph (160.3 km/h) and could accelerate from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 14.8 Armstrong Siddeley as a firm was founded in 1919, and spent most of it's independent life as an aerospace firm, being absorbed into Bristol Aero Engines in 1960. The Star Sapphire was an attempt to compete with Jaguar, Bentley and even Rolls Royce.
