The Rudbeckia genus has a rich history as a native wildflower, popular first as a medicinal herb used by pre-colonial Native Americans and then finding its way into 19th century cultivated flowerbeds. Two of the most common species in the genus are Rudbeckia hirta, often known as black-eyed Susan, and R. triloba, commonly called brown-eyed Susan . This is a fabulous plant. Bold large 6" blooms of brown and gold adorn a well branched plant. The petals on some blossoms are slightly upturned like a smiling customer. Blooms profusely and is very well-branched. Very early to bloom and quite disease resistant. No wonder this is our most popular Rudbeckia.
