Deacon John Parmenter was born 12 Jan 1587/88 in Little Yeldman, Essex, England. His parents were William de PARMENTER and Margery GARROLD. He married Bridget DAVEYE on 12 Jun 1609 in Little Yeldman, Essex, Engalnd. In 1639 John Parmenter emigrated to New England with his wife Bridget and children Mary and John Jr; in his party were the widow John Parmenter Jr was born 16 Sep 1616 in Little Yeldham, Essex, England. His parents were John PARMENTER Sr. and Bridget DAVEYE. He immigrated with his parents in 1639, though the name of the ship is not known. He married Amey EAMES 16 Oct 1637 in Little Yeldam, Essex, England. John died 12 Apr 1666 in Sudbury, Middlesex Co., Mass. John Parmenter was licensed to keep a house of common entertainment in 1653-4. In 1654 Edmund Rice "for service as Deputy" was to have "six pounds to be paid in wheat at John Parmenter's". The Parmenter Tavern was the first tavern in that part of Sudbury, which is now Wayland.
