Abstract. Research on Duboisia plants as the main source of the tropane alkaloids scopolamine and hyoscyamine started in the 1940s. In this way, basic knowledge about the plants and their cultivation became available, which was the prerequisite for domestication, commercial production, and breeding of high-yielding Duboisia genotypes. 284 species that also exists outside of Australia in New Caledonia (Williams 2013). Duboisia leichhardtii grows in the South Burnett region in Queensland (Williams 2013).
