MANISTIQUE - Emerald Elementary has a new principal following a recent meeting of the Manistique Area Schools Board of Education. Two teachers, designated "lead teachers" have been filling in as administrators of the school following the former principal's resignation in March. During their meeting for May, the MAS Board of Education voted unanimously to approve Kipp Beaudoin as the The Manistique Area School district encompasses most of Schoolcraft County including the City of Manistique and the following townships: Doyle, Germfask, Hiawatha, Manistique, Mueller and Thompson. The total area of the district is 880 square miles with a population of approximately 8,000.
