She was the daughter of Louis de Valois, the Duke of Orléans, and Valentina Visconti, and the granddaughter and niece of Charles V, King of France and The French Château de Chaumont-la-Guiche [or -Laguiche], located in Saint-Bonnet-de-Joux (Saône-et-Loire), in a region formerly known as Charolais in southern Burgundy, was constructed beginning in 1500 for the La Guiche family [].
