The Malegitti Shivalaya Fort and Temple is the former seat of power of the Badami branch of the Chalukyas Dynasty. The fort has long since been abandoned and fallen into ruin with only the old granary, the Upper Shivalaya temple, the Lower Shivalaya temple and a bastion as evidence of the fort and complex that once stood. Overview. On the north hill of Badaami, there are three temples, of which Malegitti-Shivaalaya is perhaps the oldest temple and also the finest in Badaami, and has a Dravidian tower.
