Matthew is a professor in UBC's Department of Geography and is a highly respected and influential scholar in the area of environmental history. In his almost 20 years at UBC, Matthew has contributed to numerous university-wide committees and initiatives, and since 2015 has served as the Associate Dean, Research and Graduate Studies in the Dr. Evenden is a Professor of Geography and Associate Vice-President, Research and innovation, University of British Columbia.
