The location of the kingdom of Rheged had been lost to history, though one of its kings, Urien, was celebrated centuries later in the poet Taliesin's works. Several years ago archaeologists decided to take a second look at Trusty's Hill, drawn there by enigmatic Pictish symbols. The symbols at Trusty's Hill are far south of where Pictish Rheged is located just off the M6 (J40) at the northern gateway to the Lake District, a short 6 minute drive from Pooley Bridge on Ullswater.
