The Parish Council meets on the third Wednesday of every month (excluding August) at the Women's Institute, 95 Burntwood Road. Members of the public are most welcome to attend. In its current form, the parish of Hammerwich was established in 1871 and a new church of St John's was built in 1874, with the Parish Council being established in 1894. History. Hammerwich is a pleasant village, situated on a hill about three miles south-west of Lichfield and to the north of Watling Street (the A5). The village was once served by both canal and railway. It has a windmill, Speedwell's Mill, which is now converted into a private house.
