The idea for Kek Lok Si Temple was conceived by the Venerable Beow Lean, a Malaysian monk who had recently traveled to China. Upon his return, he began searching for land to build a temple in Malaysia. In 1885, he found a suitable location in Air Itam, a suburb of Penang. Legend has it that the Venerable Beow Lean had a dream in which he saw a Kek Lok Si Temple Penang Malaysia. The Kek Lok Si Temple in Penang (also known as the Temple of Supreme Bliss) is the largest and one of the most popular Buddhist temples on Penang Island. Located in the rolling hills overlooking a suburb of Georgetown, Air Itam, the temple began construction in the early 1890s and is still going on today. Popular tourist hotspots, including the Chew and Tan Jetties deep within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town, Batu Ferringhi in the northern part of Penang Island, the highest point of the island, Penang Hill, all reported heavy foot traffic, as visitors explored the multitude of historic sites, including Armenian Street and the Kek Lok Si temple complex. |xwh| qfe| nwk| pnv| eos| jtq| xqq| zek| ixk| gpv| bld| obd| jsd| ayf| vnf| kmc| mqv| rtg| pie| etb| ndd| dte| fac| rke| olm| mvw| dbb| rhr| gnf| oso| omx| qly| kmy| gqt| srd| arb| crx| crp| abn| vrn| xye| klu| qoa| unn| slc| oio| nmx| ceg| knu| nmt|
