Dr. Noureddine Zemmouri is a full Professor at the Department of Architecture, University of Biskra (Algeria), teaching architecture technology, and research methods and coordinating MSc dissertations and Ph.D. thesis. He has a Ph.D. in architecture and an MPhil in Building Engineering and is a qualified architect. His research interests are in the interdisciplinary area of decision-making in The Berber house in the Aures region of Algeria is known for being an example of austere architecture, defined by the construction materials available on site. What makes it different from other traditional settlements in North Africa is the fact that it is influenced by the vernacular culture of the Shawia 1 community.
