Sarcoptic mange is an infection of the skin in mammals caused by the parasitic mite Sarcoptes scabiei. The parasite can infect both humans and animals, with the disease referred to as scabies and mange respectively. Sarcoptic mange is widely distributed, affecting over 100 species, spanning seven mammalian families. 2.1 A Major Concern for Several Mammalian Species.
