The man behind one of Minnesota's most infamous crimes of the 20th century - the contract murder of his wife, Carol, in March 1963 - died on Aug. 7 at his condominium in Roseville. He was 88. She married prominent attorney Tilmer Eugene Thompson of Saint Paul in Minnesota and had four young children, ages 6 to 13, as of March 1963.
