The Atelier Vincent de Beauvais deals with medieval encyclopaedias and transmission of knowledge. It investigates compilations that aim to comprehend all the bookish knowledge available : Imago mundi, de rerum natura, De proprietatibus rerum, Speculum, Flores rerum naturalium, thesaurus, etc.The workshop was founded in the late 1970s in a CNRS team in Nancy, France, during historical work on Description de l'édition de 1474 du Speculum historiale.
