City walk through the historic city center of Alkmaar, along canals, monuments, windmills, museums and of course the famous cheese market. Alkmaar originated around the 10th century as an agricultural settlement. The Sint-Laurenskerk, the large church of Alkmaar, also received its first structures at that time.
