Hypnopompic hypersynchrony is a less recognized benign EEG pattern that is a subset of hypersynchronous patterns. The sleep-related patterns hypnagogic hypersynchrony and hypnopompic hypersynchrony have similar EEG characteristics; the difference is based on their temporal relation to sleep.
