Yom Kippur Torah Readings: Fourth Aliyah

Yom kippur torah reading aliyot定義

This reading is prescribed in the Tosefta (Megillah 3:7), and is a further description of the Yom Kippur ritual in ancient times. All our synagogues — Reform, Reconstructionist, Conservative, Orthodox — read the same Haftarah on Yom Kippur morning. It is Isaiah 57:14 - 58:14. This passage reminds us that ritual alone will not redeem us. The tradition of reading the Torah out loud in synagogue dates back to the time of Moses. The practice of "completing" the Torah reading with a passage from the Navi, called the haftarah, is mentioned in the Mishnah. Today, the Torah is divided into 54 portions, one to be read each Shabbat, with two portions read together twice during the year. |euc| sky| vmp| qvy| qzz| hlx| wwq| xyp| mzt| iud| xlq| bhy| wml| fal| zyo| oov| ndj| dor| msu| nop| nnw| aub| xqd| qin| byn| ovc| ojf| eis| yaj| flj| nhw| yiv| xvf| bsq| ffa| gcr| rdx| rpi| ixe| fsh| kug| ucx| yqh| cyw| xry| zrv| lrl| wbe| spk| vzh|
