Descrizione rifugio. La capanna Regina Margherita si trova sulla Punta Gnifetti a 4556 metri del massiccio del Monte Rosa; ben visibile anche dal fondo valle, si impone allo sguardo di chiunque guardi verso le vette. E' il rifugio più alto d'Europa e ospita un importante laboratorio adibito alla ricerca scientifica ed è dedicato alla regina Capanna Regina Margherita: sul Monte Rosa, il rifugio più alto d'Europa compie 40 anni. La Capanna Regina Margherita, nel massiccio del Monte Rosa, è stata costruita esattamente sulla Punta Gnifetti (Signalkuppe) a 4554 s l m.:  per poterla costruire, alla fine dell’’800, hanno dovuto appiattirle la cima!
