Where Do Ashkenazi Jews Come From?

Zeved habat ashkenaziの姓

Italian Sephardim in the 17th century and earlier Sephardim and Ashkenazim celebrated a ritual called a zeved habat. The name of the ceremony is derived from Bereishit 30:20. Following the birth of Zevulun, and preceding the birth of Dinah, Leah states, "Zevadani Elokim oti Zeved Tov," "God has granted me a gift." A 'zeved', is a gift, as emerges from the verse in Torah where the matriarch Leah names her son Zevulun, explaining, 'God has endowed me with a good dowry (zeved)' ( Genesis 30:20 ). In the following verse we are told, 'And afterwards she bore a daughter and called her name Dina .'.
