A view of Alumni Hall (shown in the background) and Thaw Hall is seen on the left. Both are remaining buildings from the original Acropolis Plan. Alumni Hall opened in 1921. The building could fit 2,200 students within all its classrooms. University alumni raised all funds necessary to complete the building. Thaw Hall was constructed in 1909 and dedicated on June 15, 1910. The building is named for Benjamin Thaw Sr. who donated a substantial amount of money for the building. Oakland (Pittsburgh, Pa.)
