In 1993, the firm—now known as De Grandpré Godin—moved from its premises in the Stock Exchange Tower to 1000 De La Gauchetière, a new building that prospered during that decade. Grand-Pré National Historic Site of Canada commemorates Grand-Pré area as a centre of Acadian settlement from 1682 to 1755 and the Deportation of the Acadians, which began in 1755 and continued until 1762. In designating Grand-Pré as a national historic site in 1982, the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada also recognized the strong Grand-Pre history. Acadians were the descendants of French settlers who had arrived in the region now known as Nova Scotia - which became part of a larger area known as Acadia - in the 17th century.
