August 16, 2022 ·. Local charity, Heroe's Corner Grand Rapids, was thrilled to receive a check from our 5th District Auxiliary. HCGR is a drop-in center for area veterans w/ PTSD. They also find resources that fit each veterans needs. They just acquired their new center & are striving to become a 501C3 non-profit. George Howard Jr. (May 13, 1924 - April 21, 2007) was an American World War II veteran, attorney, and a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas and the United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas.He was the first African-American United States district judge in Arkansas. The Honorable George Howard, Jr., passed away on April 21, 2007, at the age of eighty-two. He was a man of many firsts, and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Bowen School of Law is proud to have an endowed professorship in his name and honor.
