Kinross Gold (TSX:K) reported that its subsidiary, Compañía Minera Maricunga, had received a notification from Chile's environmental regulatory authority (SMA) that the regulator would seek to Kinross Gold Corporation's (KGC) fully-owned subsidiary, Compania Minera Maricunga ("CMM") was issued a notice by Chile's environmental regulatory authority (the "SMA") last Friday. Kinross made it clear on the call and to the operation: Maricunga had one year to turn things around. At the time, it may have seemed like a long shot.
