I adore Svankmajer, consider him one of the real original thinkers in film and animation, etc. Alice is a great compendium of ideas and a wild take on the story, but the soundtrack really grates on me. There's hardly any music and is basically 90 minutes of scraping, banging, pinging, whooshing, pitter-pattering, etc. Feel like I'm listening to The tonal beauty of the greyscale images in the monochrome films is particularly well captured, the high contrast look of a couple of them clearly deliberate. Detail is just a tad softer on two or three of the films ( Meat Love is probably the most noticeable), but the picture quality otherwise remains high.
