Located along the St. Lawrence River, Gananoque and the 1000 Islands is one of North America's most beautiful and unique destinations. It's home to two UNESCO recognized sites; the Rideau Canal and the Frontenac Arch Biosphere.. The region is home to famous castles and cottages, shipwrecks, national parks, historic War of 1812 sites, theatres, festivals and a casino. The lower dam was built at the lower rapids.
