Netherlands American Cemetery lies in the village of Margraten, six miles east of Maastricht. The cemetery is on the main road N278, which runs between Maastricht and Vaals on the German-Dutch border. (After crossing the border, you immediately enter the outskirts of Aachen, where the road designation is the B1). Margraten, the Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial is the only American military cemetery in the Netherlands. The U.S. 30th Infantry Division liberated this site on 13 September 1944. Here rest 8.301 American military dead. To mark 75 years of liberation, the Foundation 'Memorial Center Akkers van Margraten' is proud to present the English version of 'Margraten Memorial'.
