The carcass yield is approximately 50% (45-55% on average). This rate varies according to the fattening status of the animal, its sex and age. In the Horn of Africa where a strong tradition of camel fattening occurs, the carcass yield can reach 60%. The total weight of the camel carcass varies between 150 and 300 kg.
