The MV Abegweit began service as an icebreaking railway, vehicle, and passenger ferry that operated across the Abegweit Passage of the Northumberland Strait, Columbia Yacht Club is located in the heart of Chicago's sailing scene. As you look west from the Clubship, Abegweit, you will see the single most magnificent view of Chicago's skyline. The Club is nestled between two of the city's greatest harbors, Monroe and DuSable. As you look east, the glory of Lake Michigan is nothing short of breathtaking. Ship 5111, Inc. is now a 501.c.3 non-for-profit organization. We hold regular fundraisers and encourage donations to further programs for our young adults. Sea Scouting is part of the Boy Scouts of America with an emphasis on water-based activities. It is a coed program for young adults 13 - 20 years old.
