I adore Svankmajer, consider him one of the real original thinkers in film and animation, etc. Alice is a great compendium of ideas and a wild take on the story, but the soundtrack really grates on me. There's hardly any music and is basically 90 minutes of scraping, banging, pinging, whooshing, pitter-pattering, etc. Feel like I'm listening to Kristyna Kohoutova in two images from "Alice," a 1988 film by the Czech animator Jan Svankmajer. The movie's Czech title, "Neco z Alenky," translates as "Something From Alice." Jan Svankmajer. Director: Little Otik.
