The Mesabi Miner Makes an Appearance It wasn't long before the next ship appeared. The ship in question was the Mesabi Miner. There are quite a few ships that hold a place in my heart. This was the first ship I caught when I went to opening day at the Soo Locks a couple of years ago. She's also appeared on my blog a few other times.
The wonders of the Mesabi Iron Range are in a class by themselves. Via the Mesabi Trail, cyclists, walkers and hikers can enjoy over 135 miles of paved trail stretching from the Mississippi River (Grand Rapids) to the Boundary Waters (Ely), and connecting 28 communities. When completed in 3 to 5 years, that mileage will expand to 155 miles.
