There exists a close tie between Greek antiquity and the Low Countries in the person of Claudius Ptolemaeus (Klaudios Ptolemaios in Greek) and his Geography manual, the Geographia or Geographike Hyphegesis, which he wrote around 160 AD in Alexandria, and which I consider to mark the beginnings of atlas cartography.
