Abstract. γδ T cells play uniquely important roles in stress surveillance and immunity for infections and carcinogenesis. Human γδ T cells recognize and kill transformed cells independently of Gamma delta (γδ) T cells, a unique population of lymphocytes that mature in the thymus, account for 1-10% of circulating human T cells in the peripheral blood and up to 20% of intraepithelial T cells in the intestinal mucosa [ 1 - 5 ].
