Newsrooms in Algeria have kept this in mind as they've launched efforts to reach citizens who speak Tamazight, a Berber language spoken in areas across North Africa. Especially in Algeria, where Tamazight is one of the country's official languages, Tamazight-speaking journalists and media professionals should organize and launch media Tamazight Language. Tamazight derives from the Afroasiatic language family, indigenous to the North African region. Over 14 million people in Morocco and nearly 7 million people in Algeria natively speak Tamazight, as do minor populations in Libya, Tunisia, northern Mali, western and northern Niger, northern Burkina Faso and Mauritania.
