One of Pernette Perriand-Barsac's earliest recollections of her mother, the iconic French designer Charlotte Perriand (1903-99), is of a ski trip to Méribel when she was five years old. Perriand-Barsac hated the experience but Charlotte Perriand studied design at the Ecole de l'Union Centrale des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, France, from 1920 to 1925. From 1927 to 1937 she directed her own interior design firm in Paris. Charlotte Perriand was an associate in charge of furniture and fittings at the studio of Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret in Paris, France, from 1927 to Charlotte Perriand (French pronunciation: [ʃaʁlɔt peʁjɑ̃]; 24 October 1903 - 27 October 1999) was a French architect and designer.Her work aimed to create functional living spaces in the belief that better design helps in creating a better society.
