The Continental Divide National Scenic Trail travels roughly 3,100 miles along the Continental Divide of the Rocky Mountains between Mexico and Canada. Along the way it traverses through five states; New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. It also passes through numerous National Forests, Wilderness Areas, BLM lands, state lands, as Section C offers some of the most scenic parts of the Great Divide Trail (GDT). Starting at Peter Lougheed Provincial Park in Kananaskis it passes through several national and provincial parks (including the iconic Banff National Park) on its way to the town of Field. Most of this section is well-maintained and signed along official trails. The Continental Divide Trail (CDT) is a long-distance trail that runs from the Canadian border to the Mexican border. The CDT, alongside the Appalachian Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail make up the triple crown of hiking.
