The Pennine Bridleway National Trail is a multi-user trail designed for horse riders and cyclists but it's also a great walking trail. The complete trail is 205 miles (303km) long and runs between Derbyshire and Cumbria. The Pennine Bridleway project team was appointed by the Countryside Agency and work began shortly. In 2000 there was a proposal for an extension to the Pennine Bridleway from Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria, to Byrness, Northumberland. This extension was approved in 2002, but has not yet been funded.
The Pennine Bridleway is the longest continuous off-road biking route in the UK.
