Jean-Paul Riopelle est un artiste peintre, graveur et sculpteur né à Montréal en 1923 et décédé en 2002 à l'Isle-aux-Grues à l'âge de 78 ans. Il a été l'élève de Paul-Émile Borduas, un autre grand peintre québécois. En 1947, il s'installe à Paris, où il continue sa carrière.
