Who We Are. Habitat for Humanity's Women Build program brings together women from all walks of life to address the housing crisis facing millions of women and children worldwide. I n the last 10 years, Richmond Habitat has engaged more than 2,000 local women in this effort and raised over $180,000 towards local homes. Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 as a non-profit, non-proselytizing Christian housing ministry. Since its inception, Habitat has helped build over 400,000 homes for more than 2 million people around the world. The Richmond Habitat chapter joined the affordable housing effort in 1986.
