Let me start off by saying that Mirai Nikki has more than one amazing concept. In fact, it seemed to be a combination of a few of my favorite movies, but I won't tell you which ones because that would be a major spoiler. Anyways, Mirai Nikki is a great show. The concepts alone make sure of that. The Future Diary is a modern version reboot of a legendary love reality show project called Mirai Nikki, born from a segment of a variety show called Unnan no Hontoko of TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System Television Inc.) that became a huge hit, broadcasted in 21 countries about 20 years ago. It was then made into a top box office movie that grossed over ¥580 million, an event and even a game Yukiteru Amano is a shy middle schooler who regularly keeps track of what he does in his daily life by writing down all of his activities on his phone—a digital diary. Despite having no friends at school, Yukiteru is frequently seen talking to his supposedly imaginary friends Deus Ex Machina, the god of time and space; and Deus' servant, Mur Mur.
