I know this is an old thread - but I can't find anything else on the web and I have the same problem. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04LTS & Gnome desktop and I've installed ActiveTcl 8.4 which I downloaded from Active State's site. There's nothing in the menus and using the search facility for Activetcl finds nothing. Download Tcl/Tk 8.4.20. For other ways to obtain Tcl/Tk (such as binary distributions), see the main Tcl/Tk page. Each of these files is explained in more detail below. Once you've retrieved the sources, click below for instructions on how to configure, compile, and To check if an application is installed, you can try which activetcl or whereis activetcl or whatever the actual program name is. You can also use Synaptic if you have that or the Software Manager. Ubuntu 10.04 is no longer supported as you can see at the Ubuntu site below.
