Alpha Delta Pi is the world's oldest secret society for collegiate women. Originally named The Adelphean Society, it was chartered by Eugenia Tucker Fitzgerald at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia in 1851.Since then, the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority has flourished into an international organization with 155 active chapters, and its founding principles of scholarship, leadership, sisterhood, and Alpha Delta Pi was founded on May 15, 1851 as the "Adelphean Society", making it the first secret society in history for women. The Beta Nu chapter of Alpha Delta Pi was the first sorority established at the University of Georgia.
