Kiliaen Van Rensselaer. CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER. Before founding Insurrection, KVR was SVP, Multi-Platform Programming at Fox Television Group. Under his leadership at Fox, numerous digital incubations went on to TV/video series on networks such as FOX Broadcasting, Lifetime and Hulu. Kiliaen Van Rensselaer hired agents, including the leader of Fort Oranje Bastiaen Jansen Krol, to purchase land from Indigenous people. Krol and others were purchased about 700,000 acres, 24-miles-long by 48-miles-wide, comprising most of what is now Albany, Rensselaer and Northern Columbia Counties from the Mohawk and the Mahicans, establishing the colony of Rensselaerswyck in 1630. Kiliaen's grandfather Stephen Van Rensselaer (1764-1839) served in the state senate and as a lieutenant-governor of New York during John Jay's term as governor. Kiliaen served in the Civil War, and was at its end a Captain in the Thirty-ninth Volunteers.
