A self-drive trip to the Grampians National Park is the ideal way of visiting the Grampians, but you can also visit the Grampians without a car if driving is not an option. Public transports are available between Melbourne and Halls Gap, but it will take at least 5 hours to get from Melbourne to Halls Gap. The spectacular Grampians Peaks Trail (164km) is a challenging 13-day/12-night hiking experience through a variety of terrain in the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park. Starting at Mt Zero in the north and heading south, the trail passes over the summit of Gar (Mt Difficult), continues through Halls Gap with hiking highlights including Redman Officially opened on the 13th of November, 2021, the Grampians Peaks Trail extends roughly 160km across the entirety of Grampians National Park (Gariwerd) from North to South. The walk is designed as a 13-day/12-night experience for those looking to walk it in its entirety and is marked as a grade 4 walk due to the inclines and rocky scrambles throughout the route.
