There aren't enough places in San Jose's metropolitan area who preserve traditional dishes and culture behind their doors. For quite a few years Mezcal was a refuge for Oaxacan culture and cuisine in the South Bay. Unfortunately, Mezcal's quality of food and service has declined since pre-COVID times. We visited this past Saturday to celebrate Located in Downtown San Jose, Mezcal boasts one of the most distinctive dining rooms in San Jose. The brick exterior, metal work and indigenous Mexican motifs, sets the restaurant apart from its neighbors. Although the design is urban upscale, there is nothing watered down about the menu.
