TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Indiana State University has announced the incoming students that will be receiving the President's Scholarship for the 2023-2024 school year. The scholarship Terre Haute" means "High Ground" in French. It was named by French explorers over 200 years ago for the high plateau overlooking the Wabash River. Before the first Europeans arrived, native Wea people grew crops and tended orchards in the area that is now the center of town.
