Udupi, Feb 17, 2021: Sri Vidyasagara Teertha Sripadaru of Sri Krishnapura Matha performed 'Akki Muhurtha,' for his Paryaya today. Paryaya marks the commencement of a two-year term when a Swamiji, among the eight pontiffs of Udupi Krishna Math, will be in charge of offering daily pooja to Sri Krishna. The Shri Krishnapura Matha is a Madhwa Vaishnava monastery. It is one of the Ashta Mathas founded by the great Dvaita philosopher Shri Madhvacharya in Udupi. The first pontiff of this monastery was Janardana Thirtha, one of the direct disciples of Shri Madhvacharya, and presiding deity of this matha is Kalingamardana Krishna.
