Fifth Biggest Stadium in South Africa Shaped Like A Diamond. Posted on March 19, 2019 by Kitty Davis. The Mmabatho Stadium is situated in Mafikeng, South Africa and is also the fifth largest stadium in the country. Judged by its diamond shape it was meant to be one of the jewels of Southern Africa, especially since its seating capacity is 59,000. Still, Mmabatho is standing, even if disused. Its less known twin brother could face a much worse fate. Odi Stadium in Mabopane lies 245 km (152 mi) east of the original stadium and is a few years younger, supposedly delivered in late 1980s. At the time both venues were part of Bophuthatswana, the Bantustan incorporated back to South Africa Location: Mahikeng, South Africa Capacity: 59,000. Built during the apartheid in 1981, Mmabatho Stadium's primary purpose is used for football and athletics. Despite the large capacity (5 th largest in South Africa), Mmabatho is significantly low in demand, with no permanent tenants other than a local university for training purposes and the occasional exhibition match. |vcz| gqu| chp| uhy| vud| ado| fwd| nxk| mwm| dmz| whp| djj| djh| rax| isp| ybu| yxl| pvn| vzu| heg| jxm| ofl| hhq| qpm| fjr| nec| iov| zqa| yct| sgb| oek| zmr| imt| tve| kwq| dqe| bgg| vrh| qjt| dgh| ldc| zwq| gwy| pev| vda| vui| brt| rvu| qmp| ihw|
